
People's Council
Assemblymember Karen Bass has launched the People’s Council to enable residents an opportunity to actively participate in the legislative process.
The People’s Council will serve as an umbrella structure that will incorporate Commissions on key issues that affect the 47th District. This will include the following:
HEALTH COMMISSION
- Organize health fairs and educational presentations on key health policy issues as well as health education on diabetes, heart disease
EDUCATION COMMISSION
- Participate in town hall meetings to discuss key education policies
- Organize community fairs to make sure our youth take advantage of federal and state financial aid programs
SMALL BUSINESS COMMISSION
- Organize small businesses in the 47th to take advantage of State contracts and business opportunities
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
- Share the concerns and monitor key environmental policies affecting the 47th District as well as the State

Event will include various health promotion activities as well as free services, such as tests for cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, and vision screenings. Performances will include yoga, African and contemporary dance and Capoeira demonstrations.
