California Cares | California Leads | New Jobs | Beyond the Act Beyond the Global Warming Solutions Act
While the Global Warming Solutions Act is quite possibly the world’s most significant legislation addressing climate change to have ever been signed into law, its goals will require additional legislation to see fruition. During the 2007 legislative session, Democrats in the California Assembly proposed a number of bills that will help make the goals of AB 32 a reality. AB 118, authored by Speaker Fabian Núñez, would help promote research into alternative fuels and the infrastructure necessary to broaden the appeal of renewable energy sources. Of course, global warming is too large of a crisis to be managed by only one government body. To reverse our course on climate change, Democrats in the California legislature have worked closely with other California leaders, including U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Attorney General Jerry Brown, Treasurer Bill Lockyer, and Insurance Commissioner John Chiang.
