SAN DIEGO – Assembly Member Lori Saldaña (D-San Diego) will join other elected officials and volunteers on Saturday, April 29^th at the “North Park Rebuilding Together Day”, hosted by North Park Community Association and Rebuilding Together San Diego

Saldaña, who once trained and worked as a professional carpenter, will offer her skills to help renovate the home of a North Park resident. This home renovation is one of 15 to be undertaken this weekend by Rebuilding Together San Diego volunteers throughout the county.

“I would encourage people volunteer at one of the renovations, and spend just a few hours painting, cleaning, landscaping and performing other much needed repairs,” Saldaña said.

“It will make such a great difference in the lives of people who are having trouble keeping their homes up.”

Rebuilding Together San Diego (RTSD) is dedicated to repairing the homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age, and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves. Since 1996,  RTSD has completed over 260 home, school and community facility renovation projects throughout San Diego.

The North Park Rebuilding Together Day marks the first time in RTSD history that a community has come together and, drawing only on resources from inside the neighborhood, sponsored a home for one of its residents. 

 “The support we have received from the community for this project has been nothing less than amazing.  We are grateful to all of our volunteers and the North Park business community for pulling together to make this project a success”, remarks Susan Tinsky, Vice-President of the North Park Community Association and Chair of the North Park RBT Project. 

“This truly is a grassroots effort”.
