SACRAMENTO Several state-wide organizations issuing their annual legislative report cards have given Assembly Member Lori Saldaña (D-San Diego), a former community college instructor, high marks for the first year of her freshman term.
The Congress of California Seniors, a group concerned with mid-life and senior citizen issues, gave Saldaña a score of 100 percent for the 2005 legislative session. For their 2005 report card, the Congress analyzed votes on a variety of bills, ranging from financial elder abuse to prescription drug access, including several bills involving homeowner associations, tenant protection, and mobile home parks.
Assembly Member Saldaña, a former presidential appointee on water-quality issues, also received perfect scores from two venerable conservation organizations, Sierra Club California and the League of Conservation Voters. Sierra Club California examined legislative records on environmental issues, including air quality, energy, coastal protection, forestry, toxics, and water quality and supply. Saldaña currently serves on the Assembly’s Natural Resources and Water, Parks and Wildlife Committees, which consider legislation with environmental and conservation implications.
Jericho, a non-partisan interfaith organization advocating on behalf of children and families also gave Saldaña a score of 100 percent. Jericho listed legislation ranging from domestic violence prevention to health care as their priorities for 2005.
Saldaña represents the 76th Assembly District, including Clairemont, Downtown, Hillcrest, Mission Valley, North Park and Point Loma.
