Assemblymember Lori Saldaña (R) with Laura Kincaid (L), owner of Better Grooming, at the State Capitol.
SAN DIEGO Assemblymember Lori Saldaña (D-San Diego) honored Laura Kincaid, owner of Clairemont’s Better Grooming as “Business of the Year” in a ceremony on the floor of the California State Assembly last week.
“Small, family-owned businesses like Laura’s are the cornerstone of San Diego’s economy,” Saldaña said.
Saldaña was impressed that Better Grooming, a full-service pet-grooming shop, also served as the center last for a “Groom-A-Thon” in which $1,000 was raised for the Golden Retriever Rescue Fund. Kincaid also offers free grooming for anyone who adopts a dog through the Southern California Labrador Rescue Club of Greater Los Angeles.
“I wanted to honor a small business that also made a positive contribution to the community in addition to contributing to the economy,” Saldaña said.
Saldaña will also honor Kincaid at June’s meeting of the Greater Clairemont Chamber of Commerce.
Assemblymember Saldaña, a former business technology instructor at Mesa College, serves the 76th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Clairemont, Downtown, Kearny Mesa, Mission Valley, Point Loma, Pacific Beach and Serra Mesa.
