Saldaña named to leadership of the Legislative Women’s Caucus

SACRAMENTO – Assembly Member Lori Saldaña (D-San Diego) has been elected Vice-Chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus.

“I have made women – in their roles as mothers, caretakers for parents, teachers, workers and professionals- a priority during my legislative career,” Saldaña said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve in the leadership of the Legislature’s largest caucus.”

Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod (D-San Bernardino) was elected to serve as Chair.

The chair of the caucus alternate yearly between a member of the Assembly and member of the Senate, and the vice chair is elected from the opposite house of the chair.

Members of the Legislative Women's Caucus seek to promote sound legislative policies and budget priorities that will improve the well being of women, children and families, including family-friendly workplaces, affordable quality child care, children’s health, universal preschool, and after-school programs.

The caucus also seeks to increase participation and representation of women in state government.
