| Assemblyman Solorio Named Legislator of The Year by Crime Victims United of California | ||
| Assemblyman Honored at Capitol for Public Safety Advocacy | ||
SACRAMENTO - Assemblyman Jose Solorio (D-Anaheim) was honored recently by Crime Victims United of California. At a rally held on the Capitol steps, the crime-victim organization recognized Solorio as a "Legislator of the Year" for his advocacy of public safety and his strong opposition against early release of state prisoners. The Assemblyman addressed the multitude of friends and family members of crime victims who had gathered for the event. "I am honored to share this day and your cause with you," he said. "And my recognition here proves that Democrats care about crime victims too." He also acknowledged that crime victims are too numerous and the criminal recidivism rates are too high. "I represent a district where gang violence intrudes on the freedoms of the rest of us. I am proud that my work as Chair of the Public Safety Committee is facilitating new strategies to fight crime," he said. Crime Victims United of California was created to help ensure law-abiding Californians have the rights, protections and respect they deserve by reminding government leaders and the general public of the toll crime takes on our society, and on the victims it creates. State Assemblyman Jose Solorio also serves on the Education, Transportation, and Appropriations committees in the Assembly. He represents the Sixty-Ninth Assembly District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Santa Ana.
