ANAHEIM, CA— State Assemblyman Jose Solorio (D-Anaheim) announced today that he has successfully secured nearly $200,000 in State Habitat Conservation grant funds for the City of Santa Ana to assist their effort to improve three important environmental parks projects in the city.

“I was proud to do my part up in Sacramento to help ensure that these important park projects received funding,” said Assemblyman Solorio, a former Councilman in the City of Santa Ana. 

“The city has a shortage of park space and natural habitats, which means that we must do all we can to make the best use of those that we do have.  The city desperately needed this funding to improve three key city park areas that will provide Santa Ana residents with places for both recreation and the enjoyment of natural environmental habitats,” said Assemblyman Solorio.

With the Assemblyman’s efforts, the city was able to obtain $62,500 in competitive grant funds for their Centennial Park Waterfowl Sanctuary project, $60,000 for their Cienega de las Ranas Habitat Restoration project, and $75,000 for their McFadden Triangle Habitat Restoration project.  The Habitat Conservation Fund Program is managed by the California State Parks Department.  All three projects received the full amount requested.

Additionally, the City of Santa Ana’s Fairview Triangle Habitat Restoration project was also recommended for a $132,000 grant from the federal Recreational Trails Program.
