Assemblymember Charles Calderon to kick off Homeowners Renters Assistance Program

(INDUSTRY, CA) - Assembly Member Charles Calderon (D-Montebello) will kick off his Homeowners and Renters Assistance Program workshops, along with Senator Ron Calderon. Assembly Member

Calderon has provided claim preparation assistance for the Homeowners and Renters Assistance Program since his first tenure in the Assembly.

“Many seniors who can benefit from the program do not know about it or need assistance in applying for it” stated Assembly Member Calderon. “It is my goal to provide all those in my district, who are eligible to apply, with the information and the help necessary to facilitate the application process.”

The Homeowners and Renters Assistance Program provides free assistance to individuals who need help in preparing their homeowners assistance, renter’s assistance or property tax postponement claim. The individuals filing the claims must be United State citizens or designated aliens; 62 years of age or older, or disabled; with a total household income of $42,770 or less. Homeowners that are eligible may receive up to a once a year payment of $472.60. Renters that are eligible may receive up to a once a year payment of $347.50.

Assembly Member Charles Calderon’s District Office staff will be holding appointments at his district office beginning Wednesday July 11th, 2007 as well as office hours at senior centers in the 58th Assembly District.
