Free Public Workshop for Cultural and Historical Grant Program

Sacramento - Assemblymember Betty Karnette (D – Long Beach) today announced that the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) has commenced taking applications for $43 million worth of grants for qualified local and state programs.

“The California Cultural and Historical Endowment is the state’s way of making sure that voter-approved bond funds are maximized. This process helps California demonstrate the enormous value and influence of our rich history and cultural mystique,” said Karnette, Chair of the Assembly Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media.

In the previous round of grant applications, Karnette helped local projects at Rancho Los Alamitos and Rancho Los Cerritos in Long Beach, and Angel’s Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro receive nearly three million in combined grant dollars.

According to the California State Library, which administers the CCHE, this is the last scheduled round of funding to be provided by CCHE. CCHE funding is generally directed to capital asset projects and planning grants that illustrate the diverse and outstanding stories of California.

The deadline to apply for this round of CCHE grants is March 1, 2007. For more information, please visit the CCHE website at: www.library.ca.gov/cche.
