Lieu Hosts Workshop on Financial Aid for College |

The workshop was organized as a response to numerous letters Assembly Member Lieu’s office received regarding the escalating cost of college, as well as fast-approaching deadlines for the state’s Cal Grant financial aid program. "Going to college is not cheap," Lieu said. “In addition to fluctuating tuition fees, there are variables such as the cost of transportation and housing, which increases the actual price tag for a college education.” To help students and families pay for college, Lieu urged them to consider all options. “I chose to participate in the Aif Force ROTC to pay for college while serving my country at the same time,” Lieu said. “But ROTC is only one of many options. Another option is excellent state or federal financial aid programs, which is why we’re here today.” Assembly Member Lieu advised attendees to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or “FAFSA,” which is required for financial aid programs, grants, and loans at most schools across the nation. Individuals with questions about the information provided at the workshop are invited to contact Assembly Member Lieu’s office at (310) 615-3515 or via email at Assemblymember.Lieu@assembly.ca.gov.
