Assemblymember Lieu to Receive Award from Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association

(Los Angeles, CA) - Tonight, Assemblymember Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) will receive the Delbert Wong Distinguished Service Award, at a ceremony sponsored by the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association (SCCLA).  This year’s award is being given to Assemblymember Lieu in recognition of his continued support and representation of the Asian and Pacific Islander American community in the State Legislature.

“I am honored to be receiving this award from such a great organization,” said Assemblymember Lieu.  “It is humbling to be recognized by a group who does so much for both the legal and Asian-American community.”

SCCLA is the oldest Asian American bar association in California and annually awards dozens of fellowships and scholarships to provide financial assistance to future community leaders.  Incidentally, Assemblymember Lieu met the love of his life through SCCLA, his wife, Southern California Attorney Betty Chim.  Betty once served as president of SCCLA.

Lieu will receive his award at the 33rd Anniversary SCCLA Installation and Awards Banquet, to be held tonight at the Empress Pavilion Restaurant in Los Angeles.
