Lieu Receives Multiple Awards for Legislative Efforts

Veterans, Business, and Health Groups Honor South Bay Lawmaker

Sacramento, CANow that the Legislative Session is over and the Governor has acted on hundreds of bills, three separate organizations have honored South Bay Assemblymember Ted Lieu with “Legislator of the Year” awards.

The organizations are:

  • The California State Commanders Veterans Council, an umbrella organization of veterans groups, who cited Lieu’s legislation to protect military members and their families from predatory lending, as well as his work to promote the 20th Anniversary of the California Veterans Memorial; and,

  • The American Electronics Association, a nationwide trade association of high-tech companies, named Lieu Legislator of the Year for the Los Angeles Region, noting his persistent efforts to enhance California’s Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit and bring more high-tech jobs to the State; and,

  • The California Society for Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery (CalDerm), who sponsored Lieu’s AB 105, which raised awareness of the dangers of indoor tanning for teenagers, and will help to reduce skin cancer rates.

In addition to the organizations listed above, the California Taxpayers Association (Cal-Tax), a conservative tax-fighting organization, gave Lieu the third-highest score out of every Democrat currently in the State Assembly.

“My only goal is to work hard every day on behalf of the people who elected me,” Lieu said.  “I’m deeply honored to be recognized by these organizations.”

Assemblymember Ted Lieu (D-Torrance), represents the cities of El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, and Lomita, as well as Marina Del Rey and portions of the City of Los Angeles.
