Manhattan Beach, CA—On Friday evening, July 6th, Assemblyman Lieu (D-Torrance) will attend a special Sabbath Service celebrating the merger of two synagogues in the 53rd Assembly District. Assemblyman Lieu will be presenting an Assembly Resolution and will celebrate this historic event with the newly merged congregations—on the beach. Location of Event: The Strand between 26th and 27th Streets. Sabbath Services on the sand in Manhattan Beach. Presentation program to begin at 6:30 P.M. Congregation Tikvat Jacob (Hope of Jacob) is the historic merger of Congregation Tifereth Jacob of Manhattan Beach and B’nai Tikvah Congregation of Westchester. Both synagogues have long histories in the Los Angeles and South Bay areas. The merged congregation is committed to forming a vibrant, egalitarian spiritual center for the enjoyment and practice of Judaism. With a diversity of focused and enhanced programs, from nursery school to adult education, outstanding clergy and staff, and a warm and active membership, they will offer the South Bay Jewish Community something for just about everyone. One of the many programs of the synagogue will be summer beach services like the one taking place this Friday night. Assemblyman Lieu is thrilled to be part of this important community event and will be available to answer questions from the media. Congregation Tikvat Jacob is a conservative synagogue. Cameras and other electronic devices will be allowed during the presentation program but will be asked not to be used once the religious ceremony begins.
