Statement of Assemblymember Ted Lieu on Safety at Los Angeles International Airport

“LAX is in my Assembly district and for all of the residents, safety at LAX is of critical importance.  LAX safety is also of paramount importance to my family and me.  I generally fly four times a week to and from LAX.  I have been on two plane flights in which runway incursions caused the plane I was on to take evasive maneuvers. 

Safety is, and will remain, my number one priority.  Recent studies suggest there are continuing safety issues at LAX.  My staff and I will be reviewing those studies closely.  I look forward to working with Los Angeles World Airports, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the community to find the best ways to improve safety at LAX.”
