| Dymally Authored Original Resolution Declaring Allensworth As Historical Site and Piece of Black History |

COMPTONLegislative Black Caucus Chairman Mervyn Dymally (D-Compton) issued the following statement regarding possible closure of the historical state park Allensworth: “I was deeply disappointed to learn that an important piece of California’s Black History was in danger of being lost.” “Having authored the original resolution that reaffirmed Allensworth as a historical site, I urge the Tulare County Board of Supervisors to find another site for the planned dairy operation and to leave Allensworth alone.” While serving in the State Senate in the late 60’s, Dymally authored the original resolution reaffirming Allensworth as a historical site and a piece of California’s Black history. Assemblymember Mervyn M. Dymally represents the culturally diverse 52nd Assembly District which includes Compton, Watts, Willowbrook, Paramount, North Long Beach, and South Los Angeles. |
