Dymally Issues Statement on Bond Negotiations

SACRAMENTO – Today California Legislative Black Caucus Chair the Honorable Mervyn M. Dymally (D-Compton) issued the following statement regarding the Governor’s bond negotiations:

“It’s very unfortunate that the Senate adjourned before the Assembly was able to pass the two bond measures that would have approved a $4.1-billion borrowing plan to shore up the state's levees and $19 billion for school construction.”

“The Speaker, Assembly leadership, and staff worked tirelessly to work out a bi-partisan compromise with the Governor on his proposed Strategic Growth Plan.”

“I am looking forward to working with the leadership on a comprehensive infrastructure package that we can all agree on for the November ballot that helps to strengthen California.”

California bond measures authorize the sale of state general obligation bonds to finance specified projects or activities. Subsequent to enactment, a general obligation bond bill must be approved by the voters.

Assemblymember Mervyn M. Dymally represents the culturally diverse 52nd Assembly District which includes Compton, Watts, Willowbrook, Paramount, North Long Beach, and South Los Angeles.

Dymally is Chair of the Budget Subcommittee No.2 on Education and Finance.
