SACRAMENTO -
Assembly Member Mervyn Dymally (D-Compton) announced today that the State Allocation Board approved an appeal by Paramount Unified School District for two joint-use projects at Paramount High School. The first appeal awarded $1,394,887 for the high school’s new gymnasium, while the second awarded $1,065,275 for the high school’s library. Both facilities are joint projects between Paramount Unified School District and the City of Paramount and are designed to maximize utilization of those facilities by the public.
“I’d like to congratulate the Paramount Unified School District, particularly the students, parents, teachers, and principal of Paramount High School,” stated Assembly Member Dymally. “I’m thankful that we were able to prevail upon the State Allocation Board to provide the high school with funds I believe they were entitled to and are critical to providing our children with the kind of learning environment that they deserve. I’m especially appreciative of the leadership of State Allocation Board Members Assemblymember Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) and Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) for their leadership and assistance in getting these appeals approved.” The State Allocation Board is responsible for the allocation of proceeds from General Obligation Bond issues and specifically the Joint-Use program. The Board is also responsible for the administration of the School Facility Program, Emergency Repair Program, State Relocatable Classroom Program, and the Deferred Maintenance Program. |
