The West Basin Municipal Water District has selected California Assembly Member Curren Price (D-Inglewood) as one of three legislators to be honored at the first ever, West Basin Municipal Water District’s 2007 Legislator of the Year award ceremony this Friday.

Assemblymember Price was nominated for his unwavering support of West Basin-related issues during a critical year for the water industry, including his interest in the South Bay groundwater recharge rate assessments, and his continuous efforts to maintain and protect the interests of West Basin rate payers in his district.

“I am grateful for this honor, and I intend to remain committed to the residents of the 51st Assembly District and to remain proactive regarding water issues that impact their lives,” said Price.

Assemblymember Price, who represents the 51st Assembly District, serves a large number of West Basin constituents, including the cities of Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena and Lawndale.

“Assemblymember Price has been a pivotal West Basin ally in Sacramento, and an exceptional leader in water-related issues in his district,” said West Basin Board President Donald Dear.

West Basin Municipal Water District is a recognized leader in the production of recycled water, and supplies 30 million gallons of recycled water throughout the South Bay, annually supplying 60,000 households with precious drinking water.  The West Basin service area includes the cities of Carson, Culver City, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, West Hollywood, portions of Los Angeles, Torrance, and several unincorporated communities in Los Angeles County.
