LOS ANGELES – In the first of many annual events to come, Assemblymember Curren Price honored fifty-one outstanding women in the fifty- first Assembly District over the Mother's Day weekend at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Assemblymember Price explained, at the First Annual Sheroes Tribute, that a “Shero” is a woman who has demonstrated leadership, pride, volunteerism and commitment to her community in a manner that represents a positive role model for others to use as a standard for success. "Their accomplishments cover a wide range of areas, including education, health, religion, public safety, real estate, and public service." To commemorate the occasion, honorees were presented with a certificate from the California State Assembly, a long-stemmed rose, and a gift bag from event sponsors. Father Robert B. Lawton, President at Loyola Marymount University, welcomed a room filled to capacity with honorees and guests to the university.
