De La Torre Receives the Bienvenido Award from the Latino Health Alliance
Sacramento, CA - During its State of Latinos Briefing on May 15, the Latino Health Alliance awarded its Bienvenido Award to Assemblymember Hector De La Torre (D-South Gate). In his first term, Assemblymember De La Torre is the Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services.

The Latino Health Alliance is an alliance made up of leading organizations devoted to improving the healthcare of Latinos living in California. The Alliance includes the California Immigrant Welfare Collaborative, the California Primary Care Association, the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California, Latino Issues Forum, and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

“I am honored to receive this award from the Latino Health Alliance. As Chair of the Budget Subcommittee that tackles healthcare issues, I know how vital it is that the Legislature address the healthcare needs of the 50th Assembly District,” stated Assemblymember De La Torre. “Whether we expand Healthy Families, invest in preventive care for cancer victims or help educate Californians about healthy lifestyle choices, we must continue our collective work to improve the health of all Californians.”

"As a tireless advocate for California's working families, we recognize and applaud the impact Assemblymember De La Torre has made in such a short period and look forward to our continued work over the coming years, " said Lupe Alonzo Diaz, Executive Director of the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California and chair of the Latino Health Alliance.
