De La Torre Holds Oversight Hearing of Community Care Licensing
Sacramento, CA - Assemblymember Hector De La Torre (D-South Gate), Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, will hold an oversight hearing tomorrow examining Community Care Licensing Inspection and Complaint Resolution.

"The Legislature needs to begin addressing the problems with California's community care licensing system," said Assemblymember De La Torre. "This hearing will be a first step in setting priorities to reform a licensing system that faces many challenges."

The hearing will consist of a briefing from the Department of Social Services regarding its progress in meeting the goals it set for itself this year. This hearing will also serve as the first public release of information regarding investigation, citation and complaints statistics. The hearing will also include panels of consumers, advocates and providers of residential, foster-care, and child-care facilities currently licensed by Community Care Licensing.

The hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the State Capitol in Room 4202
