It takes everyone working together to improve the quality of life in the Southeast. The various grants listed below are available to individuals, non-profit organizations, cities, counties, and special districts for that purpose. Some programs are federal grants. Other programs are created from State Bond Acts that were approved by voters. Other programs are subsidized by the State of California. These programs are important to the Southeast because they serve our communities, assist low-income families, and create greater safety for our children. California State Franchise Tax Board, Homeowner and Renter AssistanceHomeowner Assistance Program allows a once-a-year payment from the State of California to qualified individuals based on part of the property taxes assessed and paid on their homes. You may be eligible to file a 2007 claim if you are a United States citizen, designated alien or qualified alien when you file your claim and you met the following criteria on December 31, 2007:

The California Integrated Waste Management Board The California Intergrated Waste Management Board offers funding opportunities authorized by legislation to assist public and private entities in the safe and effective management of the waste stream. For a brief overview of the Board's grant programs, consult our two-page grants brochure. Use the list below to access more detailed information about the individual grant and loan programs currently offered by the Board. You may also use the grants database to develop reports on grants by county or cycle, or grant cycles by fiscal year. Other grant funding opportunities are available from the Department of Conservation, Division of Recycling. California Department of Water Resources, Grants and Loans Office Grants and loans are available for water conservation, groundwater management, and studies and activities to enhance local water supply reliability. California State Parks, Office of Grants and Local Services To provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation. CalTrans, Safe Routes To School These State grants to cities and counties are designed to get more children traveling safely to school on foot or on bike with greater frequency. California State PTA Grant Program Grants are available to assist unit, council, and district PTAs and California State PTA commissions and committees to develop and implement programs in parent education, cultural arts, and leadership development. Grants are also available to assist unit, council and district PTAs to translate PTA materials into other languages. Southern California Edison CARE Rate Discount Program This State subsidized program provides assistance to low-income families. The CARE Program offers income-qualified customers a 20% discount off their monthly bills. Enrolled customers are also exempt from the 2001 rate increases ordered by the California Public Utilities Commission. This State subsidized program provides assistance to low-income families. You may be eligible for a 20% discount on your gas bill at your primary residence. You may also qualify for a 60% discount on your Service Establishment Charge if you are qualified within 90 days of starting new gas service. WE Connect campaign is a pioneering public/private partnership designed to help California’s working families become more financially secure by connecting them to important programs and resources. Several of these programs, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), are available and accessible to working families but many are not taking full advantage of them. This leaves over a billion dollars on the table each year that could have been used by working families right here in California. This statewide effort will connect families with the information and tools they need to take full advantage of these valuable resources, empowering them to live their dreams. |
