Assemblymember Karen Bass invites residents in the 47th Assembly District to the launch of the People’s Council on September 17th at Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES) 5931 W. 18th Street in Los Angeles. Residents will be able to meet the people who live, work and play in the District from Westwood, Baldwin Hills, Culver City, Leimert Park, Hyde Park, Cheviot Hills, Ladera Heights and Mid-City areas. They will also learn about how you can get involved in district wide activities and events such as informational fairs, commissions and town hall meetings on education, the environment, health, small business and other issues important to the community.
The goal of the event is to celebrate that citizens can a make difference in the monumental decisions made daily by our State lawmakers. The event will also have an informational resource fair highlighting local resources available to residents. |

The People’s Council will become the vehicle to incorporate citizen participation in the legislative process. It will serve as an umbrella structure that will incorporate Commissions including Health, Education, the Environment and Small Business. The People’s Council will address the key issues that affect the residents of the 47th Assembly District by conducting town hall meetings, letter writing campaigns and informational events. |
