| ‘Time to Focus on True Needs of State,’ Say Speaker Bass, Assembly Democrats, Environmental, Worker and Disability Advocates |
SACRAMENTO -- On the heels of Legislative Republicans adding to their list of demands to trade for budget votes, Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles), a half-dozen Assembly Democrats and some of California most respected environmental, worker and disability activists today gathered to condemn the effort. “When you look at the Republican list of demands that they are going to hold the budget hostage over, here’s what they are really asking for: dirtier air; less access for the disabled, unprotected workers and damaged crops and tourism,” said Speaker Bass. “Well, not on my watch.” Legislative Republicans want to trade budget votes for:
