Members of the California Legislative Black Caucus will be on hand at the State of Black CA Sacramento Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the State Capitol in Room 4202. At this event, members will give an overview of the results from the State of Black CA report, which provides a snap shot of the quality of life of Blacks in California including Sacramento.
The report was the result of a one-year research project that included qualitative and quantitative data collection measuring the status of the state’s black population relative to whites and other ethnic and racial groups. The nine-member Caucus, largest delegation in the state’s history, commissioned the report in order to develop a public policy agenda for the Caucus that would improve the lives of Black Californians. Members will also present the legislative proposals that were introduced during this legislative session. Representatives from PolicyLink will present the non-legislative proposals.
