SACRAMENTO Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles) issued the following statement today after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Assembly Bill 2987 (Núñez). The bill will create greater competition which should lower prices in the cable, internet and data transmission market for consumers.
“California leads the way in the evolution of new technology. With the signing of this bill, our way of governing TV and entertainment technology catches up to the 21st century.”
“Consumers have had enough of limited competition, minimal technological advances, mediocre customer service and ever-increasing bills. This new law ends those practices. Cable franchising regulations have stifled competition for long enough.”
“Under the old laws, it took years of negotiations for new competitors to offer Californians competition in their television entertainment services I am proud to say that changed today.”
