Speaker Núñez Hails President Calderón’s Economic Overhaul in Mexico As Key to Solving Illegal Immigration

SACRAMENTO – Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles) today applauded Mexican President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa’s groundbreaking plans to modernize Mexico’s economy to stop families from leaving their country to find work.

President Calderón billboarded his plans to create well-paying jobs and shore up Mexico’s infrastructure during his speech to a joint session of the California Legislature.

“President Calderon demonstrated today he’s got the right approach to solving illegal immigration by working to improve economic conditions in Mexico,” Speaker Fabian Núñez said. “That’s why he’s working on improving the pension system and it’s why he’s working on making sure he keeps inflation down.  Here’s a President who is saying I don’t want my people to go to the United States, I want them to stay in Mexico.”
