Speaker Núñez Reappoints Jim Woodhead
to the Advisory Commission on Special Education

SACRAMENTO—Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles) today reappointed Jim Woodhead to the 17-member Advisory Commission on Special Education.

“Jim Woodhead has served with distinction on the Advisory Commission on Special Education since 2001, and with this reappointment, he will continue his fine work helping our state address our special education needs,” Speaker Núñez said.

Jim Woodhead, 65, of Union City, was a special education certified teacher at Newark Unified School District for 35 years. He has served on the Advisory Commission on Special Education since 2001. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Speech Pathology from San Jose State University. He is a registered Democrat.

The Advisory Commission on Special Education studies, assists and advises the Board of Education on new or continuing areas of research, program development, and evaluation in special education. Members are compensated for actual and necessary expenses. Woodhead’s term will continue through December 31, 2011.
