SACRAMENTO —Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez (D-Los Angeles) Friday appointed Paul Koretz to the seven-member California Board of Podiatric Medicine.

“When Paul Koretz was in the Assembly, he authored landmark legislation that brought all sides together in determining the scope of podiatric practice,” Speaker Núñez said. “He has shown an interest in this field for years, and I’m confident his extensive legislative and local government background will make him well-prepared for this task.”

Paul Koretz, 52, of West Hollywood, served in the State Assembly from 2000-2006, chairing the Assembly Labor Committee and sitting on the Business and Professions Committee. He is a registered Democrat.

The California Board of Podiatric Medicine licenses and regulates podiatric medicine. Members are given a per diem and reimbursed for necessary expenses. Koretz’s term runs through June 1, 2010.
