Assemblymember Feuer authored several bills last year that are now in effect. Some of the highlights are:
AB 91: This bill creates a pilot project in four counties, requiring interlock ignition devices to be installed on the vehicles of first-time DUI offenders.
AB 329: The Reverse Mortgage Elder Protection Act. This bi-partisan measure will protect the growing number of senior citizens who are considering a reverse mortgage. This bill would amend California reverse mortgage law to strengthen existing counseling and cross-selling provisions and will provide the borrower with a checklist prior to counseling that highlights the risks and alternatives to reverse mortgages.
(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles), Assembly Chair of the newly formed Assembly and Senate Select Committee on Improving State Government, opened the first hearing today by pledging to work to find common ground in the effort to provide more transparency and accountability in state government. Assemblymember Feuer said he is confident that the committees will find concrete solutions that will make government more efficient, open and customer friendly. The Chair also said that one of the keys to improving state government is long term planning and better oversight on programs that are already in place.
