| Statement by Assemblymember Brownley On EPA's Decision to Add Abandoned Halaco Site to Superfund List | |
“I was thrilled to hear today that Halaco has been placed on the EPA’s Superfund National Priorities List (NPL), and am grateful to the EPA for stepping up and making its determination so expeditiously. This abandoned and toxic site poses a serious health risk to my constituents in South Oxnard. Superfund status will help insure cleanup to the highest possible standard. But with so many properties already on the NPL nationwide, the challenge now is to roll up our sleeves as public officials, and get the work started as quickly as possible. I look forward to partnering with my colleagues at all levels of government and with the community to see this done.” |
