SACRAMENTO - As part of May Fitness Month and Bike to Work Day, Senator Tom Torlakson (D-Antioch) and Assemblymember Lloyd Levine (D-Van Nuys) today celebrated the event by riding
their bikes from the Bay Area to Sacramento. The two legislators will be joined along the way by other member of the Legislature and dignitaries, including CalTrans Director Will Kempton and West
Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon.

The ride began this morning in Antioch at 3:15 a.m., arrived in West Sacramento at Raley Field at 7:45, and then finished the 60-mile ride with a one-mile spin down Capitol Mall, ultimately reaching the
West Steps of the State Capitol by 8 a.m.

The legislators also made a similar trek last year and plan to do it all again next year, as they strive to promote the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and to encourage others to ride their bikes to work.

More than 100,000 Californians are expected to ride their bikes to work during the 13th Annual California Bike Commute Week, May 14-18, 2007. Comprised of several regional Bike to Work Day
events throughout California, California Bike Commute Week is held in conjunction with National Bike to Work Week, National Bike Month, and the American Lung Association’s Clean Air Month.
