| To See Demonstration of BMW Hydrogen Vehicle |
Oxnard, CA – Assemblymember Pedro Nava, Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee and Assemblymember Julia Brownley to tour the Port of Hueneme and the BMW of North America Vehicle Distribution Center to view their prototype hydrogen vehicle and environmental friendly port improvements on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Noon at the Port Hueneme Headquarters, 333 Pomona Street, Port Hueneme. The tour will consist of a brief overview of the California port system; including how Port Hueneme is implementing new “GREEN” technologies to meet the challenges of reducing port related emissions and their impact on the environment. Additionally, there will be a tour of the BMW Vehicle Distribution Center and BMW Emission Lab and Research Program to see a demonstration of the BMW hydrogen car. “Port Hueneme is a vital entry point for goods on the West Coast and important to the economic well-being of Ventura County and California,” said Nava. “It is also undertaking efforts to be good stewards of our environment. As Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee I want to make sure ports are secure and strong and also operate in an environmentally friendly manner.” Port Hueneme is the 3rd busiest port on the West Coast and serves as an important entry point for goods arriving and departing. It is the only deep water harbor between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay area and is the U.S. Port of Entry for California's central coast region.
