Assemblymember Pedro Nava Participates in the Torrey Pine Restoration Projection with the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden and Laguna Blanca School

Carpinteria – Assemblymember Pedro Nava joins the Laguna Blanca School, the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service, and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden in planting 300 Torrey pines in an effort to study and restore this highly threatened native California pine.  The Torrey Pine is among the rarest of pines in the United States and this long-term project will serve as a practical option for protection, restoration, and introduction of the species into the wild.

“I applaud Laguna Blanca School for actively taking care of our planet by planting and maintaining the Torrey Pines and thereby exercising its core values of scholarship, character, balance and community,” said Nava. “This important restoration project demonstrates the Botanic Garden’s commitment to extend and enhance its public education and plant conservation programs and I am honored to participate.”
