Pending Education Legislation

This year, Assemblymember Nava introduced AB 2121, which creates the Farm Fresh Schools Program that introduces California grown, farm fresh produce in our kids’ school lunch programs, while providing nutritious and delicious school meals that create more markets for California farmers. AB 2121 just passed with unanimous support from both the Assembly Committees on Education and Agriculture. The bill will next be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. For more information, or to register your support for the Farm Fresh Schools program please contact me at my office, or send me an email at Assemblymember.Nava@asm.ca.gov.

Also, Assemblymember Nava is partnering with State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell and introduced AB 2163. The measure provides several additional opportunities and settings for students to prepare to pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). Assemblymember Nava believes that assisting students to graduate from high school and thoroughly preparing students for success in postsecondary education and the workforce, is imperative to California’s economic development and quality of life.
