Arambula announces informational meeting on funds for historical and cultural projects
Assemblymember Juan Arambula (D-Fresno) today encouraged government agencies and non-profit organizations throughout the San Joaquin Valley to attend an upcoming informational meeting in Fresno on obtaining funding for projects from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE).

When: Monday, December 12
3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Fresno County Library, Central Branch
2420 Mariposa Street, Fresno

Proposition 40 of 2002 created the CCHE to support the “acquisition, development, preservation, and interpretation of buildings, structures, sites, places, and artifacts that preserve and demonstrate culturally significant aspects of California’s history and for grants for these purposes.” The current grant cycle will provide $43 million for projects statewide.

“The Valley is rich in history and rich in culture, and California’s voters have given us this endowment to preserve our past and celebrate the present,” Assemblymember Arambula said in announcing the grant program and the upcoming meeting. “Now it is up to each of us in our communities to apply for these funds and make sure that an appropriate share comes to the Valley and is used to tell our stories.”

Applications are due January 31, 2006. Applicants with specific questions are encouraged to visit the CCHE website at www.library.ca.gov/cche, email the CCHE at endowment@library.ca.gov, or call (916) 651-8223.
