Assemblymember Juan Arambula (D-Fresno) is pleased to join the Tom Flores Youth Foundation to invite all members of the community to the Raider Nation Blood Drive today in Sanger. Assemblymember Arambula and former Oakland Raiders star and coach Tom Flores will both be in attendance. The Central California Blood Center will be taking the donations of blood.
“Ninety-seven percent of Americans have a loved one or friend who will need a lifesaving transfusion of blood in their lifetimes,” Arambula said in announcing the event. Each month the Blood Center must collect between 5,000 and 6,000 pints of blood to meet the needs of Valley residents. “Giving blood is a painless way for those in good health to share the gift of life with those who need it most,” Arambula said. Donors must be in good health, at least 17 years of age, and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. Donors should be sure to drink plenty of water and eat a healthy meal prior to donation. First-time donors need photo identification with a distinctive, permanent identifying number (such as a driver license). Donors will receive a commemorative T-shirt and be eligible for door prizes, including the chance to win Raider game tickets.
