Assemblymember Juan Arambula Honors Valley Veteran for Outstanding Contributions

Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Juan Arambula (D-Fresno) honored local veteran, Ralph Guerra, at a special ceremony today at the California Chamber of Commerce in Sacramento.

Guerra who served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965, served one tour of duty in Vietnam and one year in Korea.  After serving his county Guerra started a long career with the United Postal Service.  Guerra worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years and at one point had a postal customer who was an up and coming lawyer by the name of Juan Arambula.

“Assemblymember Arambula has come a long way since the days when I use to deliver his mail,” said Guerra.  “It is an honor to receive this award from such outstanding leader in our community.”

In 2004, Guerra was elected Commander of Veterans of Foreign War (VFW), Post 8900 in Fresno.  While serving as Post Commander, Guerra received the “All State Commander Award” for meeting targeted goals assigned by the National VFW.  Since then, Guerra has been elected as Jr. Vice Commander of the VFW District 11, which is composed of 19 VFW post throughout Fresno, Kingsburg, Los Banos, Mariposa and Reedley.  In 2007, Guerra was recognized by the State of California VFW for leading all Districts in membership.

“Ralph Guerra is a fine example of what it means to be an American.  He is an exceptional person who continues to serve his country by serving our Veterans.  I commend Mr. Guerra for the exceptional work he has done,” said Assemblymember Arambula.
