Valley War Heroes and Veterans Receive a Special Thanksgiving Meal

Assemblymember Juan Arambula makes a special delivery to veterans for Thanksgiving.

Fresno, CA – Valley war heroes and their families received a special visit from Assemblymember Juan Arambula (D-Fresno), who delivered Thanksgiving meals that are sure to brighten their Thanksgiving holiday.

As part of the Assemblymember’s “Operation Gobble,” Arambula delivered turkeys with all the fixings to local veterans and active officers of the military who are in need this holiday season.  According to Arambula, one war hero just recently finished a tour of duty in Iraq and came home to find that his family needed a little help this holiday season.

“It saddens me to know that the men and women serving in our armed forces come home and are struggling to make ends meet.  We need to take care of our military families who are working so hard to keep all Americans safe,” said Arambula.

Arambula also delivered turkey meals to local homeless veteran’s homes that will use the meals for their Thanksgiving dinner.  Arambula then stopped by the California Air National Guard Base to distribute Thanksgiving meals to military families.  “Operation Gobble” also distributed food to more 30 non-profit agencies and schools that will deliver turkey meals to needy families in the community.

This is the fourth year Arambula has sponsored “Operation Gobble” and hopes to continue the program in the coming years.  “Operation Gobble distributed more than 220 meals to needy families throughout Arambula’s Thirty-First Assembly District.  Along with a 15 pound turkey, the meal boxes included other traditional items such as mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables and stuffing.

“No one should have to go without during the holidays. It is my hope this meal will ease the burden some families are feeling and help them enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday” said Assemblymember Arambula.
