HANFORD – Assemblymember Nicole M. Parra (D-Hanford) today announced the kick-off of “Operation Gobble,” a program to provide Thanksgiving turkeys to local families in need.
In what has become an annual tradition for the 30th Assembly District, Assemblymember Parra plans to give away approximately 1,000 turkeys to families throughout the district at events in Fresno, Hanford, and Bakersfield. Numerous community groups contributed to the effort. The turkeys will be distributed to selected non-profit organizations at the following locations:
“I want to extend my gratitude to former Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante and the wonderful organizations that really came through for my constituents with their generous support this year,” said Assemblymember Parra. “With their help, we were able to provide a healthy and happy Thanksgiving to many families in this community.”
Judy Horn, Community Director of Hand-In-Hand Family Resource Center, said “On behalf of the residents of Hanford and throughout Kings County, I thank Assemblymember Parra for her leadership and continued effort to distribute Thanksgiving turkeys to families. In a community with such a high unemployment level and low income levels, we appreciate the generosity of the Assemblywoman and the other participating organizations.”
“To be able to help so many families is both personally and professionally rewarding for me,” continued Assemblymember Parra. “This time of year is a time for giving thanks for all that we have. I am blessed to have wonderful friends and family and am proud to serve the communities of the 30th Assembly District.”
