“I’d like to congratulate the students, parents, teachers, and principals of the twenty-one schools in the 30th Assembly District. Collectively, these schools have been chosen to receive an estimated $92 million over the next seven years,” stated Parra. “This is an exciting day for everyone that cares about providing every student in California with the opportunity for a quality education. “This source of additional funding is one step forward in achieving class size reduction and enabling our teachers to pursue professional development.”

The Quality Education Investment Act (QEIA), also known as Senate Bill 1133 (Torlakson), was enacted in 2006, and implements the terms of the California Teachers Association, et al. v. Schwarzenegger settlement. This program will provide approximately $2.7 Billion over the next seven years to the selected low-performing schools that are ranked in deciles 1 and 2 of the Academic Performance Index (API).
