Assemblymember Parra Honors Local Business Owner

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Nicole Parra (D-Hanford) has nominated local business owner Daljinder Chauman as the small business owner to be honored from Assembly District 30 at the 2007 California Small Business Day.  The event is sponsored by over 30 small business organizations and chambers.

“I am pleased to nominate Mr. Daljinder Chauman as a small business leader in the 30th Assembly District,” said Assemblymember Nicole Parra.  “I salute Mr. Chauman and his wonderful family.  They are active in civic affairs and have contributed greatly to the economic and social fabric of our community.”

Daljinder Chauman came to the United States from India in 1981.  By 1989, he purchased his first gas station and food mart in Tulare, California.  With many sacrifices and hard work, he purchased his second station in 1998 in Bakersfield and his third gas station in Bakersfield in 2004.  Daljinder Chauman is a leader in the Sikh Community and active in his church.

California Small Business Day was unanimously passed in 2000 by the California State Assembly in recognition of the importance of small business to the economy of the state.  The honorees are hand-selected by the Legislators for their dedication and service within the district.

The California Small Business Association is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that makes its mission to provide small business with a meaningful voice in state and federal governments.  For more information, visit www.csba.com
