(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblywoman Nicole M. Parra (D-Hanford) received confirmation yesterday of her appointment to key assembly committees for the ensuing legislative session.
Assembly Speaker Fabian Nuñez announced yesterday the composition of Assembly Policy Committees for the coming legislative session. Assemblywoman Parra, in addition to being appointed Chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, has also been placed on the Assembly Committees on Banking and Finance, Insurance, and Water, Parks and Wildlife.
Ms. Parra will be working closely with Assembly Agriculture Committee Vice-Chair Doug LaMalfa, who himself is a rice farmer from Northern California, and the newly appointed committee members, including Assemblyman Tom Berryhill (R - Modesto), Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally (D - Compton), Assemblywoman Cathleen Galgiani (D - Stockton), Assemblywoman Jean Fuller (R – Bakersfield), Assemblyman Tony Mendoza (D - Norwalk), and Assemblyman Dave Jones (D – Sacramento).
Ms. Parra is also looking forward to serving another term as a member of the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee, where she has been a strong voice for the needs of California’s Central Valley as it relates to water supply issues impacting the most productive agricultural-oriented region in the Nation.
As a member of both the Assembly Insurance and Banking and Finance Committees, Ms. Parra will continue to protect the economic vitality and growth of our State.
“Membership on these committees is a critical component to ensuring the voice of the Central Valley is heard in the Capitol,” said Assemblywoman Parra, “and I’m truly excited about the opportunities that will ensue for our Valley’s workers, families, and economy.”
