| Soledad and King City Awarded HOME Investment Partnership Program Funding | |
SACRAMENTO—The California Department of Housing and Community Development recently announced that Soledad and King City have been awarded HOME Investment Partnership Program funding to build affordable housing. Assemblywoman Caballero has been a long time champion of affordable housing for working families. “I am thrilled that both Soledad and King City were awarded HOME program funding. I commend the local governments of both cities for taking the time to apply for the program—they should both serve as models for other communities,” Assemblywoman Caballero said. “The HOME program will help these communities develop much needed affordable housing for first time homebuyers.” The HOME Program provides funding for a wide range of activities, including construction of rental housing and housing for first-time homebuyers, down payment assistance to homebuyers, and housing rehabilitation. A total of $39.37 million is being awarded to help meet the affordable housing needs of California families. Applications were made available by the Department of Housing and Community Development on June 1, 2006 and were due on August 15, 2006. Funding decisions were announced on January 16, 2007. |
