Asm. Laird: “Unconscionable to not close yacht tax loophole” |
|
SACRAMENTO – Assembly Budget Committee Chair John Laird (D-Santa Cruz) today released the following statement following the Republican-led effort to keep open the so-called “yacht tax loophole”: “It is unconscionable to not close the yacht tax loophole when we’re making cuts to public education and medical care. If California’s teachers and students, as well as those receiving medical care, can take cuts, so can California’s yacht owners.” SB 8xxx, which would have closed the yacht tax loophole (which also includes airplanes), failed on a party-line vote of 47-18 (two-thirds needed). |
