The next hearing of the Assembly Select Committee on Alcohol and Drug Abuse is scheduled for November 1, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Phoenix Houses of California located at11600 Eldridge Avenue, Lake View Terrace, CA 91362.

California is in a state of crisis in regards to substance abuse treatment for teens and adolescents. A clear pattern has emerged among the youth population, as it has been shown that adolescents are using drugs earlier, using harder drugs, and participating in other associated high-risk behaviors. Therefore, this hearing will focus on solutions to reduce the rates of teen drinking and drug use before it starts, as well as measures to improve the effectiveness of treatment.

The Select Committee would like to know your perspective on what kind of policies and practices the State should consider when addressing adolescent substance abuse. If you are interested in the discussion or would like to address the Committee, please attend our upcoming hearing.
