Assemblymember Joe Coto & San José Public Library Invite Families to Meet Local Children’s Authors
San Jose, Ca. – Assemblymember Joe Coto and the San José Public Library invite families to a special event featuring two local authors, John Zamora, Sr., Creator of Pepe L. Mariachi and Karl Soltero, Author of Los Zubians Comic Book Series. The authors will present their books and read to the children on Saturday, December 10, 2005 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Biblioteca Library, 921 South 1st St., San José, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dr. Roberto Cruz-Alum Rock Library, 3090 Alum Rock Ave., San José.

“Reading helps us to see the magic of our dreams. Good readers also perform better in school,” said Assemblymember Joe Coto, a former educator. The Assembly member is encouraging parents to bring their youngsters to one of the sessions to meet the authors. They are well known in San Jose and have created fun reading materials for young people. John Zamora, Sr. is the creator of Pepe L. Mariachi and friends and Karl Soltero is the author of Los Zubians Comic Book Series. The authors will be giving away copies of their work. Assemblymember Coto will match their contributions so that more books can be given to the children in attendance.

San José Public Library facilitates life-long learning and educational experiences for all ages by offering a wide range of interactive activities to encourage reading and help develop reading skills.
