SACRAMENTO –Today, Assemblymember Ira Ruskin recognized Chef Chu’s of Los Altos as the 21st Assembly District Small Business of the Year as part of California Small Business Day. A special ceremony sponsored by the California Small Business Association was held at the Sheraton Grand in Sacramento. The purpose of the day is to “Recognize the Contributions Small Business makes to California.”

Assemblymember Ira Ruskin Hosts Holocaust Memorial Ceremony at State Capitol
SACRAMENTO – Assemblymembers Ira Ruskin (D–Redwood City) and Mike Feuer (D–Los Angeles) hosted the California Assembly Holocaust Memorial Ceremony as part of Holocaust Remembrance Week today. Over 70 survivors and a hundred guests were in attendance to memorialize those who lost their lives and to tell the stories of those who survived. This year’s Holocaust Memorial Ceremony was the first to include World War II veterans who liberated the concentration camps in Europe.

Ruskin’s Emergency Legislation to Save Small Gas Stations Advances to Assembly Floor
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ira Ruskin’s Assembly Bill 96 cleared a major legislative hurdle, receiving a unanimous vote from the Assembly Appropriations Committee. AB 96 is bi-partisan legislation to provide financing for small gas station owners complying with California Air Resources Board’s (CARB’s) clean air requirements.

Assemblymember Ira Ruskin Appointed to California Wildlife Conservation Board
SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Ira Ruskin has been named to the California Wildlife Conservation Board by Assembly Speaker Karen Bass. The Wildlife Conservation Board is the state’s primary body to administer capital outlay projects for wildlife conservation and related public recreation. Ruskin will serve on the Legislative Advisory Committee of the Board with three Senators and two other Assemblymembers.

Judy Kleinberg of Palo Alto Named as Woman of the Year for 21st Assembly District
Assemblymember Ira Ruskin (D-Redwood City) will honor Judy Kleinberg of Palo Alto as “Woman of the Year” for Assembly District 21. Special ceremonies will be conducted on the Assembly and Senate Floors on Monday, March 16, 2009, to recognize “Women of the Year” from every Assembly and Senate district in the state.
