Mullin To Honor Community Leader Alice Peña Bulos

Assemblyman Gene Mullin (D-South San Francisco) is honoring longtime community leader Alice Peña Bulos as the 2006 Woman of the Year for the 19th Assembly District. Assemblyman Mullin will escort Mrs. Bulos as she is honored on the floor of the Assembly on Monday, March 20, 2006.

Known to many as the “Grandmother of Filipino-American Politics,” Mrs. Bulos has devoted most of her life to helping others and to encouraging grassroots political involvement. For the benefit of those who may be unfamiliar with Mrs. Bulos’ work, Assemblyman Mullin is pleased to present the attached editorial, which describes just a few of Mrs. Bulos’ many contributions to San Mateo County and beyond.

Note: The Assembly Woman of the Year ceremony will begin promptly at 10:30 am on the Assembly floor, following a Breakfast Reception for the honorees hosted by Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante. Later in the day, California First Lady Maria Shriver will host a reception for honorees, their guests and Assemblymembers at the State History Museum. This event will begin at 2 pm.
